Something which most of the 'old timers' will already know about mailing
lists, but others may not.
Find out how to display the full headers of a message in your preferred
e-mail client; I use Evolution on Linux, and I have to click View -->
Message Display --> Show Full Headers. Most mailing lists, this one
included, will have headers similar to the following:
Mailing-List: contact wxPython-users-help@lists.wxwidgets.org; run by
ezmlm
List-Post: <mailto:wxPython-users@lists.wxwidgets.org>
List-Help: <mailto:wxPython-users-help@lists.wxwidgets.org>
List-Unsubscribe:
<mailto:wxPython-users-unsubscribe@lists.wxwidgets.org>
List-Subscribe: <mailto:wxPython-users-subscribe@lists.wxwidgets.org>
So you effectively have instructons built into the headers of every
message. Some mail clients (Pegasus Mail is one that springs to mind)
are intelligent enough to recognise these headers and offer additional
options to make mailing list management easier.
