Try using the non-unicode version of wxPython. The MS unicode
compatibility library used on win9x and winME is fairly buggy.
But I need the unicode version, and earlier versions were working with the
same unicode library on WinMe. I'll try to dig some more tonight to see what
exactly is causing this. Can you recommend any strategies?
Are you sure? I've *always* had this problem (wxTaskbarIcon) on Win98 ever since I did the first unicode version.

Hmmm, maybe I'm not so sure if that was the unicode version. Anyway, I
needed to get the demo working and I can live without the taskbaricon, at
least for now. As a bonus, having found the cause of the crash, now I can
run Boa too, so I'll rather concentrate on learning wxPython. But I can
download the non-unicode version and try it on my system to see if unicode
is responsible for this. I'll post the result.
