Anyway, I was wondering if there’s any way you could bump waf to version 1.7.11? It’s nice to be updated, ain’t it? 
I don’t have enough brain CPU to do that myself though. Would you do the honors?

If waf is so important to you, shouldn’t you be learning how to make the patches, update the documentation, do the testing on all the various platforms and all the various applicable versions? (All those steps are important, not simply changing a couple of lines and copying over some files into a repository.)
Your enthusiasm for wxPython is admirable, but you don’t seem to have learned that Robin has many more constraints on his time than simply keeping waf updated for you. I think he is well aware of your interest in it and has a system for updating things. Your pestering him to update waf on your schedule isn’t helping.
If you want something updated, the best way to make sure it is done quickly is to make it as easy as possible for him (and for everyone else). That means writing the patches, doing the testing, updating the documentation, etc., etc.
I hope you accept this comment in the spirit with which it is offered.
