You can install the latest Ubuntu Hoary (Array 3 was just released).... they have wxpython 2.5.3.2pre 
on python 2.4

I tried installing from the source rpm, but did not get very far (something to do with gtk-config not found).
The release notes assume (among other things) that you know what you are doing. To be honest, I don't. Therefore I have a choice - wait for the binary, or spend a long time trying to figure out how to compile the source. I would rather wait for the binary, provided I do not have to wait too long, hence my question.
