Vernon,
Visual C++ is included in Visual Studio.NET, in addition
To Visual C# and "Managed C++". Its just not very advertised.
I'm not talking about Python.NET, Just regular old CPYthon.
As of Python 2.4, VC++ 7.1 (Visual Studio .NET 2003) will
Be the official compilier used in the windows builds cuz Microsoft
Handed off a bunch of free copies to the core devel team.
Its actually a nice compiler: I prefer the IDE and its more
Compliant code. It doesn't appear to be very binary compatible,
Though.

Subject: RE: [wxPython-users] Any luck with VS.NET 2003?I have not tried compiling Python with Visual Studio, because
the documentation which came with my VS.NET clearly shows
that it is an interpreter (like python is) and not a true
compiler. I wish I had known that prior to buying ... it
would have saved my company lots of money.
Some folks have already tried to create Python.NET, but
reported that the performace was so poor that they would not
use it themselves. Search for it if you want to know more.

p.s.: Would anyone like to recommend a REAL C++ compiler
that I can run on my W2k machine. In other words: what
compiler can I re-compile the Python library routines using?-----Original Message-----

Subject: [wxPython-users] Any luck with VS.NET 2003?I was wondering if anyone had any luck compiling and using
wxPython with VS.NET 2003? I need to use this environment but
so far am not having much luck. No errors in building
anywhere, but on my first attempt a "python demo.py" resulted
in a silent freeze when unicode was on, and an access
violation when it was off in the build. No hard details right now because I'm rebuilding from
scratch, but I was just wondering if it was tried. Does it
work for anyone in the current tree?
CVS?Thanks.
