A little off-topic- screencast software ...

Hi all,

since my first major project using wx.python exclusively (win and mac)
will be launched in december, I was thinking about some screencast in
order to explain usage, etc ...

I haven't used screencast software ever since camtasia and flw output in
2007 but of course would prefer something non-flash ...
(just like Java I have never really liked Flash ... to put it nicely ..
 )

Has anybody any recommendations or personal experience to share?

ThanX,

T

I use Snagit at work fairly regularly. Works very well, though I think it is just a limited version of camtasia.

There are also some free online services such as http://www.screenr.com/

I use “Free Screen To Video” by Kyote Software,
to capture screen video and microphone audio for ScreenCasts of my
video analysis application. I use a video editor to edit what I
capture ('cause I can never capture what I need in one smooth take)
and convert the result to the form I need for my web site (which is
Flash for me, but you can create whatever you want.) You can see my
screencasts at to
see the finished products.
I chose this package because it was free and because it can capture
video I play within my app, which several other packages I
experimented with could not do.

I’m planning on using Microsoft Expression Encoder 4. I have read good reviews while researching screencast software. It has a free and a paid version.

Will you be releasing the Mac version via the Mac App Store?
